Synology DiskStation DS1621+ 9TB, 16GB RAM, 4x RJ-45 1000Base-T, 3x USB-A 3.0

The Synology DiskStation DS1621+ is a compact 6-bay NAS built to easily handle most small business needs with its solid performance. This affordable DiskStation is highlighted supports up to two DX517 expansion units, which increases the number of available drive bays to 16 for a maximum capacity of 108TB. Other hardware features include an AMD Ryzen V1500B 4-core 64-bit CPU at 2.2 GHz, up to 32GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM (standard models ship with 4GB), dual M.2 2280 NVMe SSD bays for caching, and four 1GbE ports.

TechPowerUp (Highly Recommended): In conclusion, this is a good product that doesn't address home users, who will frown upon its high price tag and won't like the limited multimedia capabilities because there is no embedded GPU. Pros: + High performance + High build quality + Fantastic operating system (DSM) + btrfs and EXT4 support (internal drives) + Docker support + Front USB 3.0 port (with two more at the back) + Two eSATA ports + Four Gigabit Ethernet ports + 2x M.2 slots for SSD cache + Compatible with Synology's DX517 expansion units + Power consumption low enough + Fast boot and restart times + Upgrading the RAM is easily done + DBB fans + Trays with locks (but not of the highest quality) + Free PCIe slot for the installation of a 10 Gbit Ethernet card + 3-year warranty which can be expanded to 5 years Cons: - Not affordable - CPU without an integrated GPU, so forget 4K video transcoding - Expected upgraded Ethernet ports (2.5 Gb) - Plastic HDD trays are without anti-vibration materials - You cannot format an external disk into NTFS (but NTFS disks are recognized properly) - ExFAT support for external storage is not free - A proxy server in Download Station would be nice - Can be noisy under high fan speeds
