Enermax Revolution D.F. X ATX 3.0

Enermax hat seit letztem Jahr mit den REVOLUTION-D.F.X.-Netzteilen eine Reihe von ATX-3.0-konformen PSUs im Angebot, welche den oberen Leistungsbereich abdecken. Das von uns nun getestete Modell mit 1.050 W bietet eine gute Ausstattung, sehr kompakte Abmessungen, solide Effizienz und aufgrund der Ausrichtung auf Gamer auch eine RGB-Beleuchtung.

Zuletzt hatten wir mit dem Revolution D.F. ein Modell im Test, dass sich sich durch seinen Dust-Free-Modus und den guten und leisen Lüfter auszeichnete. Genau diese Serie hat Enermax nun einer Überarbeitung auf den neuen ATX3-Standard unterzogen. Dabei sind gleich zwei Modelle entstanden, das Enermax Revolution D.F.2 und das Enermax Revolution D.F.X, welches wir uns in diesem Test genauer anschauen.

Enermax schickt mit dem REVOLUTION D.F.X 1050 ein kompaktes und leistungsstarkes Kraftwerk ins Rennen. Trotz seiner kompakten Maße bietet das D.F.X 1050 viel Leistung und eine hohe Effizienz nach aktuellen Standards. Es besitzt einen vollmodularen Aufbau und ermöglicht so mit seinen flachen Kabeln ein gutes Kabelmanagement zu erstellen.

The Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050 PSU stands out as a compelling option for those in pursuit of a high-performance power supply unit. The build quality is robust, showcased by its intriguing external aesthetics with a textured paint finish, fully modular cables, and an elegant touch of RGB lighting on the frosted side display. Furthermore, the inclusion of high-quality Japanese capacitors throughout the unit underscores its reliability and durability. Its external allure is matched by a compact and cleanly executed internal design carried out by SANR Electronic Technology (also known as Casecom), a seasoned yet uncommon OEM in the high-end PSU arena. Despite being a relatively rare name in high-end PSU circles, they have exhibited a good design and assembly job, reflecting a blend of experience and quality assurance in the product.

Enermax was one of the very first manufacturers to actually release high-end power supply units almost 2 decades ago and even though increased competition resulted in them focusing their activities in some specific countries I am glad that they are getting back to how they used to be (or at least that seems to be the case). Now in regards to the REVOLUTION D.F.X 1050W I think pictures and numbers speak for themselves. Rail stability may not be the greatest I’ve seen lately but it’s solid across the board and as for noise levels even at almost maximum load the 120mm fan is not very audible. Build quality is also good and what did surprise me was the fact that a Chinese manufacturer actually used Japanese capacitors (obviously according to ENERMAX’s specs). The side ARGB illumination is also something which I expect some people will like and as for the semi-fanless mode I would had liked to be able to disable it as with most models out there but at least it’s only functional up to 20% load.

The Enermax EVOLUTION D.F. X 1200 W is overall quite an appealing product. It really delivers a lot of quality power output considering the price. To begin with, the efficiency numbers for an 80 Plus Gold unit are great, even at high ambient temperatures with superb sub-5% load efficiency. While we're not quite at Platinum levels yet, the results are very respectable. The high efficiency also comes in handy with minimizing the cooling requirements for the PSU. While the passive mode does not expand past the 20% load marker, up until the 70% mark the fan remains fairly quiet. Beyond this level the PSU becomes significantly more audible as the fan curve rises quite sharply. Overall this is not something out of the ordinary. This is a trend we see with quite a lot of more powerful PSUs above 1000 W that do not have the very highest efficiency levels of Platinum or Titanium levels, which means they have to dissipate over 100 W of heat at such load levels. The fairly small form factor and a 1200 W power output ensures that the REVOLUTION D.F. X can definitely be recommended for a smaller yet power-hungry build. The addition of controlled RGB lighting can also bring some bonus points to some potential customers. I like that Enermax lets you adjust the pattern, and there's also an "off" mode. Thanks to an included ARGB cable, you are able to synchronize the light show with your motherboard, or any other RGB component. While the unit does seem to use quality components, the soldering quality and the consistency of trimming the ends of through-hole components could be better. This, however, should not discourage prospective buyers from acquiring the unit, especially when the PSU is backed by a 10-year warranty. With its features, price and performance the REVOLUTION D.F.X 1200 W is very easy to recommend.
