EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming, 12GB GDDR6X, HDMI, 3x DP

Mit der GeForce RTX 3080 Ti kann NVIDIA ein Modell aufbieten, welches in der Leistung dem bisherigen Spitzenmodell, der GeForce RTX 3090, recht nahe kommt, aber eben "nur" die Hälfte des Speichers bietet. Mit den Varianten von Gigabyte und Inno3D haben wir uns schon einige Einstiegsmodelle angeschaut, von MSI kam ein High-End-Modell hinzu. Jetzt werden wir in diesem Doppeltest die EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming und KFA2 GeForce RTX 3080 Ti SG unter die Lupe nehmen.

EVGA knows that continued stock constraints mean it will sell out of every card it can produce. Even so, wanting to stand out from the competition, the upper echelons of the RTX 30-series are imbued with new cooling and improved RGB.

EVGA pushed this card to the maximum of their cooler capacity, at a rated power consumption of 410 Watts they needed to flock open all registers. This card as a result runs okay enough temperatures, the nut is a little noisier. Overall this brings in roughly 3% additional performance in the GPU resolutions and games. So that's 3 FPS on average more when gaming in that 100 FPS range. This really is how relative it all is. The heat signature overall for this card is okay mut close to cooling capacity limits, we notice operating temps upwards of 75 Degrees C (which can be higher or lower depending on the airflow and your chassis of course. The dba levels seem a little high but these are not really an issue as it's more airflow that is soft rather than annoying noise. Sometimes airflow can be registered by the dba meter, while it remains relatively silent. Of course, the looks are debatable as always with any product, granted this is a lot of RGB bling, but once RGB powers on, it doesn't look bad at all, But that's a matter of taste and opinions. In general, I think anyone would agree with me; we all would love to own a 3080 Ti. This is a very well-balanced enthusiast-class graphics card. Basically, it's almost a 3090 with half the memory and a few configuration tweaks. I am totally fine with the 12GB memory btw; the 24 GB on the 3090 is impressive but far-fetched and made the product extra expensive.

EVGA has given us a price point of $1400, which is a $200 increase over the NVIDIA baseline. Just like the FE price, this price won't hold for long. I suspect we'll be seeing $2000 for the "base" RTX 3080 Ti cards very soon. Some price increase for the EVGA FTW3 Ultra is justified, no doubt. You're getting a large factory OC, much better cooler, dual BIOS, etc. I still feel like I wouldn't spend more than $100 extra for these features, which is why I'm estimating $2100 as the realistic market price. You really have to look at current pricing, though. If you can find the RTX 3080 Ti at similar price levels as the RX 6900 XT, definitely go for the 3080 Ti. It has higher overall performance and better RT performance, albeit with higher power draw. The RTX 3080 could be an interesting option if the price gap is bigger than the 10% performance gap between the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080. Last but not least, possibly the strongest competition for GeForce and for the PC gaming market overall comes from game consoles, which can be found for well under $1000 and will play all the new games, too; maybe with slightly worse graphics, but the money saved can buy you a 4K TV and a lot of games.
