Corsair HXi Series 2022 (ATX 2.52)

Die neue HXi 2022 Serie besteht nur aus zwei Modellen, dem Corsair HX1000i 2022 und das Corsair HX1500i 2022, so dass wir dann auch diese Serie auf TweakPC komplett für euch durch getestet haben. Das HX1500i dürfte wohl eines der letzten Netzteile dieser Klasse von Corsair sein, die noch nach dem alten ATX 2 Standard gebaut sind. Auffällig ist zudem, dass das Netzteil trotz seiner digitalen Features mit etwa 300 Euro zu den günstigsten Netzteilen mit 1500 Watt und mehr Leistung gehört. Wurde da etwa irgendwo gespart? Wir werden es herausfinden!

Auf wenn aktuell nach dem Launch von NVIDIAs ADA-Spitzenmodellen und dem leidigen Gezerre um den 12VHPWR-Anschluss viele Enthusiasten nach potenten Stromversorgern nach dem neuen ATX-3.0-Standard suchen (und kaum etwas auf dem Markt finden), bietet sich das Corsair HX1500i zusammen mit dem zusätzlich angeboteten Kabel samt des 12-4-Pin-Steckers als gute Alternative an.

The HX1500i has top build quality and will cope with heavy abuse without sweating. This is a power supply for demanding gaming systems; the digital interface and the ability to control and monitor it through the iCUE software is an interesting feature. I am not a big fan of iCUE since I find it challenging to use, but the fact is that it provides lots of options. This is the problem, too many options, so things go south quickly.

The Corsair HX1500i meets the competition more efficiently than its small sibling, the HX1000i. Still, the performance difference with the flagship AX1600i is significant, but the price difference between these two models is also vast, at 210 dollars. The HX1500i achieves high enough overall performance, although I expected more from its semi-digital platform. The iCUE compatibility also provides it with several interesting features, including the option to set up a custom fan speed profile, should the default not fit your needs. I am not sure how many users will bother with the complex iCUE app, but the options are there for those who have the patience to fiddle with them.

Als Fazit zum Corsair HX1000i (2022) bleibt zu sagen, dass Corsair die Neuauflage des Klassikers in allen Belangen gelungen ist. Das neue HX1000i sowie vermutlich auch das HX1500i sind somit Corsairs Top-Netzteile, was sich allerdings allein schon aus der Tatsache ergibt, dass Corsair im High-End-Segment aktuell sonst nur noch das preis- und leistungstechnisch abgehobene AX1600i anbietet. Die neuen HXi-Modelle müssen sich zwar mit einer guten 80-PLUS-Platinum-Effizienz begnügen, aber bieten die entsprechende Qualität und Leistungsfähigkeit. Die Schnittstelle zu Corsairs iCUE-Umgebung ist da definitiv die Kirsche auf dem bereits leckeren Kuchen. Gut, optisch mag dieser mit seinem simplen Gehäusedesign nicht so attraktiv sein, aber die inneren Werte überzeugen.

Nach unseren Messungen können wir sagen, dass das neue HX1000i 2022 ein wirklich gelungenes Netzteil ist. Abseits der etwas aggressiven Spannungsreglung des neuen digitalen Designs und der Ripple Einstreuung des Lüfters ab 80% Drehzahl gibt es an den neuesten Modellen von Corsair eigentlich kaum etwas auszusetzen.

The HX1000i is built to last, achieving good performance but without taking the lead from units like the EVGA 1000 P6, the Cougar Polar 1050, and the new MSI PSU with the PCIe 5.0 connector. Speaking of 12VHPWR connectors, I expect Corsair to upgrade its HXi models soon and have the new cables available for the existing buyers. Because it uses a semi-digital platform, upgrading it to ATX 3.0 standards won’t be as painful as in analog platforms since adjusting the unit’s protection features is easier. Still, it won’t be easy. This new standard, along with PCIe 5.0, is a huge pain for all manufacturers and brands, and I am not sure if all this hype is justified, given that we don’t have a clue so far about what to expect from the upcoming GPUs. Probably most of the existing PSUs, the good ones at least, won’t have a problem powering them through adapters or new cables, and users won’t have to change their PSUs overnight. I can only speculate until I have the new graphics cards on the test bench and check them with the Powenetics v2 system, which can catch any power spike, thanks to its 1000 Hz polling rate on both voltage and amperage readings on all channels.

Whenever we're dealing with hardware there is always a issue in how much information is really pertinent. After all, whilst a manufacturer might be interested in the fact their new architecture has better Z-Culling or a revised instruction set, is that the sort of information that the average consumer will be interested in? The information is there if you're feeling particularly obsessive, but for most of us we just want to know whether it does the thing it is supposed to do, and how well does it do that? Regular readers will know it's for the consumer who wants that information rather than the more granular minutiae that we use as the basis for our reviews.
