ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT

Mit der ASUS ROG STRIX RX 6700 XT O12G Gaming bekommt der Käufer eine hochwertig verarbeitete Mittelklasse Grafikkarte mit zukunftssicheren 12 GB RAM, einer ausgezeichneten Kühllösung und einer sehr guten Gaming-Performance bei Full-HD und WQHD. Auch beim Design hat Asus ganze Arbeit geleistet, die Optik ist stimmig und auch die Beleuchtung ist nicht aufdringlich.

If the Radeon RX 6700 XT sells for around $500++, which is near AMD’s $479 SEP, that would be ideal. The Asus ROG Strix RX 6700 XT is a premium graphics card, so expect a premium price tag. But I am hoping with the release of the RX 6750 XT, the prices of these 6700 XT would come down (hopefully). I’m giving the Asus ROG Strix RX 6700 XT OC Edition a highly recommend award because it’s an excellent performing card, with premium build quality and stunning aesthetics. The only thing that is holding it back, is the high price tag.

While we saw all our 6700 XT’s perform similar in gaming results, the ROG STRIX stands out in one aspect, Thermal Performance! The ROG STRIX RX 6700 XT absolutely smashed the Thermal testing and came in at least 10°c cooler than the competition and a massive 23°c cooler than AMD’s reference model. If thermals are what you are worried out, this is a clear winner in our eyes!

We do fancy the STRIX very much, it's just an elegant, perhaps even totally-over-engineered graphics card for the Radeon RX 6700 XT series of products. It offers extra features (dual BIOS, RGB/Fan connectors, etc, cooling, and a factory tweak (for the OC model) plus the ability to tweak it a notch further. It's just that pricing eh? The core design of the RX 6700 XT is fine, ASUS added to that a more superior PCB design, component choice as well as a muscular cooler. That formula is working well, however bringing just 3 to 4% faster than reference performance. You'll retrieve a nice performing product in that WQHD range at very acceptable temperatures and acoustic levels. Aesthetically the card looks grand, a bit large perhaps. As stated it's a lovely Full HD, and Quad HD card with abilities at Ultra HD as well, albeit more limited. Raytracing performance on this generation RDNA2 cards is more average, and of course, AMD lacks something DLSS, bigtime. All that could be forgiven if the product was priced right, and it isn't as the card will very likely cost well over 550 USD/EUR, we cannot justify such an illogical price level. That's not ASUS's fault, it's AMD pricing this series too high.

On average, over our brand-new, 22-game strong test suite, we measured the ASUS RX 6700 XT STRIX OC to almost exactly match the AMD reference design. In some tests it's a tiny bit faster, in others it's a tiny bit slower—expected due to random variation between test runs. The result is still surprising, because ASUS has the card coming with a factory overclock, according to specs, but it doesn't turn into any tangible performance benefit. Other custom designs tested today have exactly the same problem, so it doesn't look like it's ASUS's fault. While it's not a huge deal—factory OCs only give you 1, 2 or 3% these days, it's still unexpected. Other reviewers are seeing similar results, I wonder what's going on.
